This kind of thing would've never happened at Showbiz

Apparently the mix of booze, cranky adults and the promiscuous mistakes of their past does not a fun time make.

a few tidbits

If you are looking for something to read, watch or use as an ice breaker, here are my suggestions:

READ: This thought provoking article about a man accused of assaulting his lady friend with a sandwich.

WATCH: This hilarious video featuring Justin Timberlake on SNL.

ICE BREAKER: People magazine has announced it's "most sexiest man" for this year, Hugh Jackman!

Pirates? Yes, Pirates.

So it turns out that the high seas are still under seige of pirates. Yep, that's right, according to Yahoo! news, "more violence in the lawless seas where brigands are becoming bolder and more violent."
Hmm, I blame Disney for bringing pirates back.

Win/lose

Well the election is FINALLY over.
congrats to all the candiates that spent record amts of money on their election campaign . . . good luck balancing any budgets. I feel like this year's presidential election was a win/lose. On one hand, the state I live in (KS) was educated enough to choose the candidate who was more qualified, more experienced and wanted to make this country better. Unfortunately, the uber liberal hippe tree huggers of our country won out and ruined any chance of that. Now we will be thrust into a time where keeping what you earn and setting goals to achieve will be a thing of the past. If you are smarter and make more money you will be forced to dumb it down and give up income so your counterparts can be "equal". I guess all we can do is pray everything will work out.

Where you at?

Well I would like to say I have been busy living the dream, but to the contrary, I am just lazy and nothing special has been going on. Well, I shouldn't say that. I have, as of last week, become an aunt. The lil guy is pretty awesome, and that is saying a lot considering I am not much on kids. I am both excited and scared for my first adventure in watching him on my own. Don't worry, you will hear all about it.
I am currently working on finding a halloween costume. I know what you are thinking, "You are far too old to be participating in halloween other than to pass out candy". Well, aren't you high and mighty? Don't judge me, Judgey McJudgerson. I like halloween and it is fun for kids of all ages. I am thinking I will try for something comfortable and topical . . . Hannah Montana perhaps?

Story of the morning

Thank you, good people of PANGUITCH, Utah, for brightening my morning . . .

Found on msn.com:
Smokey? Black Bear Busts Secret Utah Pot Farm

"This bear is definitely law-enforcement minded," said Garfield County Sheriff Danny Perkins. "If I can find this bear I'm going to deputize him."

Really? You want to deputize an agressive, wild, black bear? I think someone has been dipping into the spoils on this raid. Good luck getting close enough to the bear to place a pin on him.

Roller Skating is Dangerous

For real. A friend of mine had a bday last week and thus a party. Her very nice hubby threw her a retro roller skating party. Yes, this sounds fun. However, after the stress of finding just the right outfit, followed by me biting it on the rink, I was funned out. I did have a blast with my friends and would sacrifice my other knee cap to do it again.
Happy Birthday Laurasaurus!

Truth is better than fiction

So I was telling my friend today about a news story I heard a few years back. This story will always be my favorite. If you are looking for something to make you smile and feel better about yourself, please click on this link and read the story . . . http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/jul/26/amputee_happy_be/

I hope it brings you as much joy as it has brought me.

Carefree kitty

The living situation with my new kitten, Sinatra, is going well. He is learning (slowly) what he is allowed to do and not do. He is 5 months old now and still really cute (pictured here). Here is a short bio about him:

Name: Sinatra

Birthday: 3/23/08

Ethnicity: Siamese Flame Point

Likes: His purple mouse (Sami Davis), feathers, hair ties, and pretty much anything he is not supposed to have.

Dislikes: Being alone, losing his toys under the dyer/fridge and having his nails trimmed.

I hope you have enjoyed this look into my exciting life :).

The NEB is the new black

For those of you who don't know, The NEB is what we call Nebraska. I have several friends from there and for some reason they are all slowly moving back. I am very sad about this. What makes the NEB so cool? No really, what?
Anyway, the bright side is I will have yet another location to promise to visit, and maybe even really travel to :).
Other places on the list of "Cities my friends live in" are:
The S.T.L (St. Louis)
The D.E.N (Denver)
Top Town (Topeka)
Springtown (Springfield, MO)

Clever, I know.

I love Gooooold. And Silver and Bronze.

Hooray for the 2008 Olympics. I won't lie, prior to this year's olympics start, I was not at all interested in watching. I didn't tune in for the opening ceremony and missed a few things saturday morning. However, once I saw men's badmitton, I was hooked. Let me run down my top 5 favorite Olympic events thus far . . .
#5: Men's Sand volleyball
#4: Men's Badmitton
#3: Team Handball
#2: Men's Water Polo
#1: Men's Swimming

I know what you must be thinking, and I truly enjoy these events for their Olympic grandure. I am not at all preoccupied with uniforms, or lack there of. Have you seen Men's water polo? It is very competitive! I can't wait to watch M. Phelps swim 6 more times!

8am . . . Central time?

So the apt complex where I live is repainting all of the buildings. Good for them, I don't mind the effort to keep things looking nice. However, the contractors that were hired are apparently form the east coast. There are large sandwich boards in all the parking lots that read, "PLEASE HAVE VEHICLES MOVED BY 8AM, PAINTING TOMORROW". Now, I have to be to work by 8am, so I really wasn't bothered by this. This morning I was about to leave my apt (at 7:35am) and when I opened the door I was almost tagged in the face by a spray gun. I feel the boards should have told me they meant 8am eastern time. The conversation that followed went something like this:
"Um, Hi?"
"Oh! Hi."
"Yeah, I need to go to work."
"OK, you going to work?"
"Yes."
(Incomprehensible yelling over the balcony as I walk down to the 1st floor where I find my car covered in a tarp)
"Hi, yeah, this is my car. I need to go to work."
"Oh, ok."
"Thanks."

I guess I should be thankful the contractors were thoughtful enough to cover my car, but then again, they wouldn't have had to cover it if they would have started at 8am central time!!

The highlight to my morning

I have never been a fan of this fashion and now someone has put a voice to all that I feel towards this subject . . . .

Manic Monday?

Not really. It has been pretty slow today, with the exception of the ocassional flare up like a bad case of . . . nevermind. Anyway, I think Monday's suck and I realize I am not the first to say this. If we could just cut that day out of the work week things would go a lot smoother. My new proposed workweek: Tues-Thurs 8am-6:30pm, Friday 8am-12pm. Done and done.

Hannah Montana

I like her stuff. I am not ashamed.

A day in the life

As I was telling my co-worker today, I am a member of a dysfunctional family. It isn't dysfunctional in a bad way, more in a funny way. For instance, last night my brother told my not-so-tech-savvy mom that I have a website (my blog) to meet guys. she of course believes him and begins to condemn me. Nice work bro. After many failed attempts to reassure my mother that I am not infact trolling the internet for dudes, I gave up.

Lunch hour shenanigans

I am on my 4th week at my new job. Things are going well. I have a lunch buddy from work and we have begun eating a short lunch at the office and then venturing out into the OP wild. Fortunately, there are many locations to visit in our immediate area. So far we have gone to Super Target and Old Navy. Next on the list may be this Rug store that is having a store closing sale . . .
Today over lunch, we discussed how a friend of mine is really into scrapbooking. I informed the lunch bud that I tease my friend b/c she goes to "scrapbooking meetings". I have named her meetings the SAS club, meaning: Springfield Association of Scrapbookers. My SAS friend is not amused with the name. Anyway, lunch bud suggested we start our very own "Scrappers" club, not to be directly affiliated with SAS. I am intrigued by the idea and the fact that Hobby Lobby (or Hob Lob as I affectionately call it) is within our scouting area. Bring on the craft scissors!

4th of July, Springfield style

The fourth of July was a lot of fun. Things started out a little hairy considering I had to drive 2.5 hrs in lake traffic, but then I was able to spend the weekend with friends, sunshine and drinks. We were able to watch fireworks over the lake which was pretty cool and I participated in tubing for the very first time. Overall, I would give it 4 out of 5 stars or sparklers.

A Special Request

Well hello. It has been a while, and due to a long lost friend of mine who I was unaware read my blog, I am back. Lots of things have transpired over my break from blogging . . .

1) I did, infact, get a new kitten. I named him Sinatra b/c of his blue eyes (and beautiful singing voice).
2) I have switched jobs and so far so good. I miss some things about my old work, but the longer I am gone the easier it is to move on. My new job brings with it many opportunities and new people.
3) I am thinking about getting a new car. While I am not so sure I can afford it, I enjoy car shopping.
4) Some of my friends threw a "Rock Party" which was right up my alley. I LOVE old rock (ie: AC/DC, Aerosmith, Journey, Poison, Def Lep) I can't get enough.
5) I planned my first ever baby shower. It is for my sis-in-law, will be held in the STL and she is due in Sept. I gotta say out of all the parties I have planned in my life, baby showers are at the absolute bottom of the list on fun. Maybe it is the lack of booze that makes them so un-fun.

Well that about wraps up what has been happening in my not-so-exciting life. hopefully this weekend will bring something to talk about . . .

An open letter to anyone overly obsessed with David Cook

Dear Obsessed Fan/News Caster/Radio Personality,
Please stop. It has come to my attention that you have an unhealthy fixation with a normal person who happens to be competing on a reality TV show. Yes, I am referring to David Cook. I understand in your warpped mind, he is the greatest thing to happen to the KC area since Hannah Montana came to town, but I would disagree. Your obsession is interferring with my daily life and I cannot take it anymore. All I like in the morning is to know what Mother Nature has in store for the day and good music. Today both of those little pleasures were ripped away from me by story after story about David Cook being in KC. I do not appreciate it and I would like this irritating behaior to stop.
First of all, let's try to set your sights for heroes a bit higher. There are far better (legitimate celebrities) that you could plaster all over your myspace page. For starters, Tiger Woods. Tiger is ranked in the top 5 for charitable donations among sports and entertainment personalities. Not to mention he kicks everyone's ass in golf! So you are not really into sports? Ok, well let's try someone more your speed . . . Barbra Streisand? She also ranks in the top five (actually above Tiger). Also, Babs does film and TV! There you go, I think Babs is your new obsession. She fits perfectly and isn't a quasi-celeb. Now go back to your sad life of American Idol voting and stalking quasi-celebrities.

thank you,
Concerned Citizen

Kickball isn't just for kids

Oh no, my friend. Kickball is for adults as well. Last night was the first of 7 Leisure League Adult kickball games. The team I am on, Blue Ballers, showed in grand fashion by winning our game 7-0. We had a great time and, more importantly, no one was hurt (unless you count the violent charlie horse in my leg that awakened me at 4am this morning). Some things to keep in mind for next week . . . more stretching and more beer.

Speaking of a new friend . . .

My first and second floor neighbors across the parking lot were both on their balconies last night and apparently decided to get more acquainted. Originally, I was very irritated by the fact they were yelling back and forth from their balconies, but was suddenly intrigued when the second floor girl invited the first floor boy up. When he headed up the stairs, I turned off all the lights in my apt and tried to observe what was hppening. They talked for a while on the balcony and then took their conversation inside. I eventually got bored and went to bed. I wonder if he stayed the night??

maybe a new friend would be nice?

I could not sleep at all last night. It inevitably forced me to think about a lot of things. I would like to get a kitten. I miss my cat that lives with my parents and it would be mean to have him move in with me. He lives a great life at the Casa De Adams and he keeps my parents sane (even though they would never admit it). I put the word out at work and the suggestions came flooding in. We shall see where this leads . . .

The reason

I found this link featured on yahoo! while I was not enjoying lunch . . .
http://www.menshealth.com/eatthis/20-Worst-Foods/index.php?cm_mmc=Yahoo_Blog-_-The_20_Worst_Foods_in_America-_-Tool-_-The_20_Worst_Foods_in_America
How appropriate. Thanks for ruining eating out forever!

Testing it out

So I am trying something new today. I am going to fully embrace a diet. I have tried to depend solely on exercise and that is not working. Also, this particular diet involves very little effort on my part. I won't have to worry about what to fix for breakfast or lunch. The only meal in question is dinner. fantastic. Fingers crossed, it will work and I will be modeling before you know it! haha, yeah right.

A long weekend

This last weekend was comprised of a visit from a out of town friend, the KC Kentucky Derby party and a wedding. I think I spent about 5 waking hours at my apt all weekend. With my birthday approaching, I am again considering being too old for this "stuff".

My new hat

So in case you don't follow the horse racing circuit, tomorrow is the 134th Kentucky Derby. A friend of mine has been planning for the last 364 days for the party he will be throwing tomorrow in honor of the Derby. The most imprtant part of this day is the hat. I am fortunate enough to work with crazy talented people and so the hat I will be wearing is custom made just for me! I love this hat so much, my new goal will be to find as many occasions as possible to wear it. I might even wear it to the grocery store?

A not-so beautiful day in the neighborhood

I watch the news every morning while getting ready for work. Mostly, for the weather, to help me plan what to wear that day (even though my office is generally a constant 50 degrees). This morning was all bad news. Last night a nasty storm hit my area and caused damage to several houses. It got me thinking . . . I live on the 3rd floor of an apt building. What exactly are my "emergency proceedures"? I should probably already know this, and it may have been included in my massive packet of info when i moved into my apt, but who reads those? Really my options are limited. I don't know any of my closer to the ground neighbors and I am pretty sure the "most interior room" of my apt will not be too effective if the roof comes ripping off. Guess I should look into that . . .

First timer

Ok, so as much as I was against having a blog, I decided it was worth a try. Who could possibly care what is going on in my head? But, I have come to realize that it is kind of nice to get all of that out and if someone chooses to read it, then sweet.

P.S.
there is a strong possiblity I
could suck at this.
